Safety Course Schedule; Gun Raffle

The range will be closed Saturday Sept 22nd from 12-4 for the hunter safety program.

*******************************************************************************                          2018 FIREARM AND BOW/CROSSBOW SAFETY COURSES
Class sessions presented at the clubhouse, 297 Collins Mills Road in West Gardiner.  This 12 hour course is required of anyone obtaining their first adult license or who has not held a hunting license since 1978. Minimum age is 10 years old by end of course. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. You must attend all sessions within your course. You will be required to put together a safety kit containing the following items:
COMPASS (available for  $10)                                                                                             WHISTLE (available for $2)                                                                                  WATERPROOF MATCHES OR MATCHES IN A WATERPROOF CONTAINER     CHOCOLATE CANDY BAR

FIREARM SAFETY COURSE only:

Tuesday Sept 18th through Thursday Sept 20th  6:30-8:45 PM  AND                           Saturday Sept 22  9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.   Do not bring guns or open knives.

ARCHERY SAFETY COURSE only:

Thurs,  Sept 20th  6:30-8:45 PM  AND                                                                                             Sat.,  Sept  22nd   9:00 AM to 1:00 PM  AND                                                                           Sunday Sept 23rd   9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Anyone who has already completed an IFW  safety course and can provide a certificate from Inland Fish and  Wildlife (duplicates available at WWW:Maine.gov/IFW/safety)  should bring a copy of their certificate and  attend ONLY   Sunday Sept. 23  9:00 – 4:00.

COMBINATION FIREARM/ARCHERY SAFETY COURSE

Tues Sept. 18 through Thurs Sept 20th   6:30 PM to 8:45 PM AND                           Saturday Sept 22nd  9:00 AM to 4:00 PM  AND                                                                 Sunday Sept 23rd 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

CROSSBOW SAFETY CLASS:

Sunday Sept  23rd 4:00 -8:00PM.  Prior completion of an archery safety course is required. A copy of your archery safety certificate must be presented.

COST:                                                                                                                                          Firearm safety $15,   Archery safety $15,   Sunday only Archery $10,  Crossbow safety $10

                               2018 Gun Raffle

West Gardiner Rod and Gun Club will be conducting a fundraising “Wall of Guns and Bows” raffle as follows:

West Gardiner Rod & Gun “Wall of Guns and Bows”
(only 200 tickets will be sold)
Drawing to be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 or when all 200 tickets have been sold (whichever comes first)  A convenient early date be at the Annual Hunter’s Breakfast.)
Tickets are $10 each
The winner will choose from one of the following prizes:
Mission Crossbow – MX Series package
Matthews Triax Compound Bow – assorted colors
Browning X-Bolt Rifle – assorted calibers
Benelli Shotgun – Montefeltro 209A
Kimber Pistol – Ultra Carry – 45 Caliber

Entry tickets may be obtained:

  • At Audette’s Hardware, 22 Peck Farm Road in Winthrop
  • From any active club member
  • At club meetings at 7:30 on the first and third Thursdays of the month
  • Each Monday evening at the club between 6:00 and 7:00 pm
  • By sending a check made out to West Gardiner Rod and Gun Club for the desired number of tickets, together with a stamped self-addressed envelope, to Scott Farnum, 110 Maple Ridge Drive, Monmouth, ME 04259.  Scott will return a ticket stub to the sender, together with a photocopy of the stub to be entered into the drawing made out in the sender’s name.
